Short, direct answers about what Crawlmind does and how to think about it.
What does Crawlmind do? +
Crawlmind crawls your website and grades it on two axes in a single report: classic technical SEO (titles, meta, H1, canonical, robots, sitemap, redirect chains, broken links) and AI discoverability (structured data, llms.txt readiness, explicit AI-crawler policy, citation readiness, entity clarity). It surfaces the specific rules a page failed and ranks the fixes by impact and effort.
How is Crawlmind different from a regular SEO tool? +
Traditional SEO tools check for Google rankings. Crawlmind also checks how AI answer engines (ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews) see your site: do you have an llms.txt, do you allow GPTBot and ClaudeBot in robots.txt, is your structured data citable, do your pages have unambiguous entities? AI traffic is a growing share of every site’s referrals and the rules are different.
What AI crawlers does Crawlmind check for? +
GPTBot and OAI-SearchBot (OpenAI), ClaudeBot and anthropic-ai (Anthropic), Google-Extended, Applebot-Extended, PerplexityBot, CCBot (Common Crawl), Meta-ExternalAgent, cohere-ai, and a growing list of emerging bots. We detect both explicit allow/disallow rules and implicit fall-through to the default User-agent block.
Is there a free tier? +
Yes. The Free plan gives you up to 5 crawls per month, 10 pages per crawl, and 50,000 AI tokens per month — enough to evaluate the product end-to-end. No credit card required for Free.
What is llms.txt and why does it matter? +
llms.txt is an emerging spec (llmstxt.org) for telling LLM crawlers what content lives at a site and how to interpret it — a curated index file. Sites that ship a well-structured llms.txt get cited more accurately by AI answer engines because the model doesn’t have to guess which pages are canonical. Crawlmind detects yours, validates its structure, and can generate one from your sitemap.
Where is my data hosted? +
Crawlmind runs on DigitalOcean (NYC). Crawled page content and generated reports are stored in DigitalOcean Spaces (S3-compatible). AI enrichment is performed via Anthropic or OpenAI (your choice per plan capability). See our sub-processors list for the full picture.
